Local Non-Profits
Change Requires Collaboration
Below are some fantastic Non-Profit organizations, as well as some government programs, that are also working to feed those that suffer from food insecurity. It is important to note that Annual Market Farm was not founded to compete with other organizations, but to support them. We look forward to working with each of these towards our common goal. Check out their websites and share them where possible.
The Oregon Food Bank has been an amazing group, feeding thousands across the state of Oregon. They not only provide systems for low income families to get food, but address barriers to employment, affordable housing, health care and more.
Urban Gleaners
Urban Gleaners collects fresh food before it can go to waste. They supply this food to people that need it. Gleaners are diligently working, in many regions, to bring efficiency to food distribution. Urban Gleaners deserves a special tip of the hat for providing these services in the Portland area. Their services have helped so many people!
This non-profit has taken several approaches to ending food insecurity in Oregon. My favorite is their FED program, which provides meal preparation services to get healthy and nutritious prepared foods to the masses.
